The trial began on Wednesday February 29, 2012, for the six Romanians arrested for human smuggling in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden. They operated the largest prostitution network in Sweden and the girls were primarily from Romania. Read Article

Romanian sentenced 30 years for sexual exploitation, human smuggling in Spain

After a lengthy investigation by Romanian and Spanish authorities, Romanian Ion Clamparu was sentenced to prison for thirty years on February 20, 2012. He was found guilty in Spain for five counts of sexual exploitation. The defendant was part of a large network of human smugglers for sexual exploitation between Romania and Spain. Read Article

Romanian citizen arrested Arizona, extradited to Italy for human smuggling charge

Giuliano Matei, a 34 year old Romanian citizen, was arrested in Phoenix, AZ on October 27, 2011. American federal authorities ordered his extradition to Italy on Tuesday 28th of February, where he will be charged with counts of rape and human smuggling of a minor. Read Article
