Moscow: police arrest two suspects involved in job scam

According to Rian.ru Moscow police have detained two men suspected of trading in top executive and law enforcement jobs, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday. The suspects promised one businessman they could get his son a post at the Federal Security Service (FSB) central office for 300,000 euros and offered another person the position of governor in Siberia’s Altai region for 30 million rubles (about $1 million), the ministry said in a statement on its website. As reported by Utsanddiego.com, a college student from La Costa almost became a victim of a Craigslist scam after applying for a job and then being told he had to go to Tijuana to complete the process. Nate Dirkmaat, 18, who is on a semester break from Brigham Young University Idaho, answered an ad purporting to be from Habitat for Humanity looking for drivers. It promised pay of $21.50 an hour. Bangkokpost.com reported that a Swedish man has been arrested in connection with a job scam that left more than 100 Thai laborers stranded in Sweden. Pol Maj Gen Roy Ingpairoj, the Tourist Police Division chief, said on Friday that Ari Veinko Juhani Hallikainen, 52, opened an overseas employment business in 2010. He falsely promised 164 people, mostly from northeastern Thailand, that they would get agricultural jobs abroad. Read Article
